Overview

Eight days is what Gujarat actually needs. Anything shorter and you are choosing between the temples and the desert, or the ruins and the coast.

This Grand Gujarat and Kutch tour refuses to choose.

You open with the Modhera Sun Temple and its stepped water tank, then Rani ki Vav at Patan, a UNESCO stepwell carved downward into the earth with sculpted panels lining every level. The landscape changes completely after that and you are in the Little Rann of Kutch for a jeep safari through the Wild Ass Sanctuary.

Then Nadabet for the Seema Darshan programme at the Indo Pak border, two days at Dholavira, and Kalo Dungar for the view across the White Rann before a full moon evening on the salt.

The last stretch is the part most itineraries never reach. Lakhpat Fort, Koteshwar Mahadev on the Arabian Sea, Mata no Madh, Bhuj heritage across Smritivan and Aina Mahal, and finally Mandvi where craftsmen still build wooden ships by hand.
